Dear Space Coast Businesses,

On behalf of the EDC, we hope first and foremost that you and your employees are safe.

While we are fortunate the Space Coast didn't take a direct impact, some businesses have experienced damage to their facilities.  If you have experienced damage, the following resources may be of assistance as you rebuild.

  • Governor Rick Scott has activated the Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program to support small businesses impacted by Hurricane Matthew.  Administered by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the program provides an expedient cash flow to businesses damaged by a disaster.
  • The short-term, interest-free loans help bridge the gap between the time damage is incurred and when a business secures other financial resources, including payment of insurance claims or longer-term loans.
  • Owners of a small business with two to 100 employees can apply for loans for up to $25,000.  Loans are granted in terms of 90 or 180 days and are interest-free for that time period.
  • Applications will be accepted under this program through November 11, 2016, contingent on the availability of funds.
  • Additional qualifications and the application can be found at www.floridadisasterloan.org
  • The Florida Small Business Development Center serves as a statewide provider of entrepreneurial and business development services.  They are also an invaluable resource for education, training, and assistance needed when a disaster strikes.  To learn more about the Florida SBDC Network's Business Continuation Services, click here.
  • For questions regarding the loan program or other resources, contact the Florida Small Business Development Center Network state office at 850-898-3489.

Brevard County is a resilient community; utilizing available resources such as the loan program can assist you in a quicker recovery.

Best regards,
Trudy McCarthy
