Lockheed Martin Selects Titusville for New Operations
New jobs to be added in north Brevard

Brevard County, Fla (July 12, 2016) The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC) is pleased to announce that Lockheed Martin has selected Titusville as the site to create new capabilities, advancing Lockheed Martin’s role in spacecraft manufacturing and test. The company has chosen to leverage the Astrotech Space Operations site adding up to 300 jobs. Incentive support provided by the North Brevard Economic Development Zone (NBEDZ) and the state of Florida provided the best business case for Lockheed Martin to expand its operations on the Space Coast.

Governor Rick Scott said, “Florida is home to one of the largest aerospace and aviation industries in the nation and we continue to grow. It’s exciting that Lockheed Martin continues to expand in Florida, adding hundreds of jobs for our families.  We will do all we can to make it easier for businesses like Lockheed Martin to succeed in Florida."

"We have sites across the country, but Brevard County offers a unique blend of skilled people and a growth-friendly business environment that make it a great fit for this project," said Tom Malko, vice president of Assembly, Test and Launch Operations at Lockheed Martin Space Systems. "Partnering with the community creates a win-win for Florida, for Lockheed Martin and for our customers."

“The EDC worked closely with Enterprise Florida, the North Brevard Economic Development Zone and the City of Titusville to ensure a strategic business approach was demonstrated that resulted in the selection of Titusville,” stated Lynda Weatherman, president and CEO of the EDC of Florida’s Space Coast. “This expansion builds upon a community known for its space legacy. Lockheed Martin’s decision to invest in Titusville adds to the city’s global recognition as a prime location for the next generation of space technology development.”

“The North Brevard Economic Development Zone (NBEDZ) is committed to bringing high caliber jobs and companies to our area,” stated George Mikitarian, NBEDZ Board Chair. “It is important this area remains competitive and top of mind when businesses are considering the best location for workforce and resources.”

The Lockheed Martin expansion in Titusville is an addition to an impressive list of companies scheduled to establish a presence in the area.

“Space Florida looks forward to Lockheed Martin’s expansion to Titusville, and witnessing the success of its growing role within the aerospace industry,” said Space Florida President Frank DiBello. “Lockheed Martin’s decision to select the Space Coast aligns with Space Florida’s vision of Florida as global leader in enabling space commerce. Additionally, it is a testament to the area’s workforce and opportunity. We are seeing a transformation of the region’s aerospace legacy to include research and development and manufacturing capabilities, as Lockheed Martin’s decision comes on the heels of Blue Origin and OneWeb Satellites’ announcements.”
