EDC’s Weatherman to Serve on Air Force

Space Superiority Civic Group

The AFSPC National Civic Leaders for Space Superiority to play key role in enhancing Space Coast relations with United States Air Force.

Space Coast, FL (May 9, 2018) – Lynda Weatherman, president and CEO of the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC), has been appointed to the Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) National Civic Leaders for Space Superiority group.

The appointment of Ms. Weatherman will support the Space Coast region’s continued resurgence in the space industry, while strengthening Brevard’s connection with the Air Force, and more specifically, the AFSPC.

In this role, Weatherman will serve as an interface between the command and civilian leaders at the state, regional and national levels, communicating Air Force programs, positions and problems through communications, appearances, and speeches.

“I’m honored to have been selected to represent the Space Coast and will work to promote the advantages and assets of our area, while continuing to foster the strong connection between Brevard and our Air Force,” said Weatherman.

“Ms. Weatherman has been a formidable driving force for success on Florida’s Space Coast and her commitment to the community, the 45th Space Wing and the Air Force make her a vital addition to the group,” said Brig. Gen. Wayne Monteith, 45th Space Wing Commander.

This major command-level group will play a significant role for the Air Force and will meet regularly with AFSPC Commander, General John W. Raymond and other key AFSPC leaders. At a recent meeting at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado Weatherman was introduced to advances underway in military space and cyberspace. The meeting also included a hands-on demonstration of training facilities, an overview of wing and installation missions, and an introduction to Airmen who displayed manning in combat gear.
